Recruitment of 09 (Nine) Scientific Officers,36 (Thirty-Six) Scientific Assistants & 36 (Thirty Six) Drivers for different Mobile Forensic Units of FSL, West Bengal on Contractual Basis.

Applications are invited in the prescribed format available in the website (http://www.wbfsl.gov.in) for filling up the post of Scientific Officer, Scientific Assistant & Driver in different district Mobile Forensic Units (MFUs) of Forensic Science Laboratory, West Bengal purely on contractual basis.

A. Duties to be performed:

1. Scientific Officer - Observing and documenting the entire scene of crime to understand the events, taking high-quality photographs, creating detalled sketches and writing meticulous notes of observations, evidence location and context, identifying, collecting, cataloging, and preserving all relevant physical evidence (biological, trace, firearms, digital) using proper methods to prevent contamination, applying advanced methods to locate latent prints or enhanced traces, briefing senior investigators and collaborating with police and medical staff, ensuring the "chain of custody" for all collected items before transport to the lab. Running the mini lab in district forensic unit.
2. Scientific Assistant - Assist senior officers in examining the forensle cases, assists in documenting, collecting, and preserving physical evidence like fingerprints, DNA, weapons, and trace materials, using photography, sketching, and meticulous recording, while maintaining strict chain-of-custody, preparing for lab analysis, and ensuring scene integrity, all to support forensic investigations and potentially provide expert testimony.
3. Driver- Safely operating an assigned forensic vehicle to transport the crime scene investigation team, their extensive equipment (cameras, evidence kits, casting materials, etc.), and supplies to and from the scene, Ensuring the assigned vehicle is maintained in good running condition and ready for immediate deployment at all times, under strict chain of custody protocols, potentially transporting packaged and documented evidence from the scene to a secure storage facility or a forensic laboratory for analysis, strategically parking the vehicle to ensure it is close enough for easy access to equipment but does not obstruct the scene or destroy potential evidence on the periphery.

B. Upper Age Limit: Not more than 40 years as on 01.01.2025.

C. Tenure of appointment: The appointment shall be purely on temporary and contractual basis for a period of 01 (One) year which may be renewed for a further period of one year if the Appointing Authority so desires.

D. Mode of Selection:

1. Based on FACT score and Interview (for the post of contractual Scientific Officer & Scientific Assistant),
2. Driving Test & Interview. (for the post of contractual Driver)

E. Last Date of submission of application: 30.12.2025 at 18:00 hrs

Duly filled in application within the envelope having superscripted with "Application for the post of Scientific Officer" or " Application for the post of Scientific Assistant" or " Application for the post of Driver" should be reached by post or dropped in the box placed in the reception hall of SFSL, 37/1/2, Belgachia Road, Kolkata- 70037. Applications received after the last date and time will not be entertained.
4. The authority reserves the right to screen the applications and change the mode of selection process depending on the number of applications.
5. Exact date, time and venue for examination will be notified in the official website of the State Forensic Science Laboratory,
   Govt. of West Bengal (http://www.wbfsl.gov.in).

7. No TA/DA will be paid to the Candidates for attending the test/ interview.
8. Canvassing in any form and/ or bringing any influence will be treated as disqualification.
9. Please note that no correspondence or telephonic enquiries shall be entertained.
10. Local candidate will be given preference for selection to the concerned district of Mobile Forensic Units (MFUs).
11. The candidate should be willing to work in HQ Lab or any regional lab or the mobile forensic units in the districts as required.
12. The names of selected candidates and waitlisted candidates will be displayed on the Notice Boards of FSL HQ Kolkata, RFSL Jalpaiguri and RFSL, Durgapur and also in our website.
13. Selected candidates may be offered contract subject to medical fitness and verification character and antecedents.
14. Selected candidates have to submit the valid Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) which is available in the website of Kolkata
    Police & West Bengal Police at the time of joining.
15. If a candidate fails to collect the VR form within 10 days of publication of selection list or fails to return the same within the stipulated time, the same will be considered as unwillingness for contractual engagement and the candidature will be treated as cancelled without further notice.
16. The authority reserves the absolute right to cancel the recruitment process without any prior notice and without assigning any reason thereof.
